Concert 2017 Information

School Concert – 30th November, 2017
All groups will be performing at the Eastwood PS concert on Thursday, 30th November in the school hall. The following information is provided to ensure that all children are prepared for the performance.

 Arrival Times
All performers should arrive with hair and makeup done and in their costume (including ballet shoes) by 6.30pm.

REMINDER: all children must have their own ballet tights and ballet shoes. No child will be permitted on stage without these items.

 Hair and makeup

Makeup Stage lights fade out facial features and can make performers look washed out. All dancers, young and old, should wear makeup when performing. Make-up can be purchased at supermarkets; department stores, Priceline or most pharmacies.

HAIR AND MAKEUP INSTRUCTIONS CAN BE FOUND BELOW

If you still cannot do hair or make-up, your child will need to arrive from 5.00pm and no later than 6.00pm. Students who will be attending EBASC can come to have their hair done from 4.00pm (please notify EBASC staff if you wish for your child to have hair done early).  If you would like assistance with hair, you MUST provide your own hair ties, bun/hair nets, bun pins and bobby pins. These can be purchased at most supermarkets, department stores or pharmacies (eg. chemist warehouse) or from Priceline.

The concert is scheduled to begin at 7.00pm.

Meeting Points
Please deliver your child to the kindergarten classrooms on the ground floor of A block. It would be appreciated if you would drop your child, and then proceed to the hall. As there are so many children performing, the rooms will be very congested. Also, as some girls will be dressing, for privacy reasons, please do not enter the rooms or photograph the children. There will be teacher supervision at all times.

Children performing in other items prior to the ballet performances will need to see me for a make-up and hair check prior to moving to meeting points for their other items.

Quick changes
If your child is performing in more than one item, please be available to help them change for their next performance. There is no guarantee that someone will be available to help for quick changes. A running order for the concert will be sent home shortly.
For very quick changes (ie. only one or two items between) the PE room, on the basketball side of the hall will be available. Costumes should be left in the PE room prior to the start of the concert.
Costumes

Costumes and head pieces will be sent home with your child a few days before the performance. Please try the costume on your child once to adjust straps etc. (if the costumes straps are loose, please sew them so they do not fall down during the performance.

Costume Care
Please do not allow your child to play or eat while wearing the costume. Dance costumes are very difficult to clean so please avoid staining them. They should try the costume on once so that adjustment, if needed, can be made and then not worn again until the concert.
After the concert, all costumes should be taken home. The leotard part of the costume (leotard bodice on dresses) must be hand washed and dried in the sun. DO NOT wash the tulle skirts on the tutus or dresses). After washing and drying, the costume should be packed back in the labelled zip lock bag it was sent home in. If the bag is lost, please place the costume in a replacement zip lock bag (label the bag with the student's name and costume size in permanent marker).

Note: Years 2 and 3 leotards will need to be washed carefully, do not immerse in water. Wash around wings and leaves.

All costumes must be returned to the school by Wednesday, 6th December. Costumes should be placed in the boxes located on the ground floor of A Block, opposite the stairs at the EBASC end of the building. ALL COSTUMES MUST BE RETURNED BY THIS DATE AND NO LATER.

Please ensure costume bags are labelled with your child's name as costumes will be checked and marked off when returned. Any missing costumes will need to be paid for.

What to bring
• Please pack a water bottle (water only please). Children must not eat while wearing their costume. They should eat before dressing for the performance.
Thank you for your cooperation and support. We look forward to seeing you at next week’s performance!
